Back to School - ADHD and CBD

It is the middle of August and we wonder in the summer flushed haze of heat where time has gone. Back to school is suddenly on the horizon and coming fast. Some can’t wait; others steel themselves, and a spot of dread passes that horizon, like a threatening thundercloud.

Children suffering from ADHD symptoms, and their parents, are likely some of those eyeing the thunderclouds and wondering how this year will go. It’s a legitimate wonder, as school, more than anywhere else, brings ADHD to the forefront and causes angst for all involved. It often means an increase in discipline, homework, and even peripheral issues such as teacher burnout.

The question here is, and one we receive often, is this: are there any natural treatments to help children with ADHD or symptoms suspicious for ADHD? The answer is yes.

I have quite a number of client parents with children using CBD as a single treatment for ADHD with good results. CBD has the advantage of targeting a wide range of natural CBD receptors throughout the body, which can result in an overall alleviation of symptoms, from modulating mood, to calming and heightening focus. In addition to this, there are few to no side effects.

CBD has received excellent testimonials from parents, and I feel there is enough evidence in support of CBD to give it a try. If your child is on Adderall or Vyvanse or some similar treatment and it is working, that's great; I do not wish to sidetrack anyone from a treatment that is working. However, if you are looking for a natural alternative, CBD is well worth trying. And, in fact, high-quality CBD can be used as an adjunct to other treatments, should you wish to keep your child on a stimulant, for example.

If you decide to give CBD a try, I am happy to provide consult services to help with dosing, timing, and follow-up.

To begin, I recommend giving those ADHD symptoms a double punch with both nano jellies and the tincture (broad spectrum 750 mg). However, I well realize there is a cost involved, and if that is an issue, start with the jellies only and see how they work alone. You can always add the tincture later if you feel your child would benefit from it.

What a breath of fresh air to see a natural alternative to drugs recommended!

Are the nano jellies longer acting than the liquid?

Replying to

The nano jellies are water soluble and thus have faster onset. Oil is metabolized in the liver so slower onset and longer duration. Hope this helps! Thanks!
